In constructing it, the edges are made thicker than the interior which is made of one layer. This is because such areas are less prone to freezing conditions and it would be unnecessary to have a thicker wall.

The third and final type in this section is the Frost Protected type. It works well when combined with a heated structure. This type moderates the temperatures below the footings thus preventing the ground above from freezing. This type is also suitable in areas where freezing is common since it can enable the inhabitants of the structure to survive still since it prevents the ground above from freezing.

When laying the base of huge and strong devices such as air conditioners, one has to consider setting a concrete foundation so that the instrument is held in position and prevented from shifting due to the vibrant effect it creates. The equipment is also run by electricity and failure to site it firmly could result in fatal accidents. Thus the firm base enables it to function efficiently.

The foundation has many benefits. It gives the building great strength to withstand harsh forces of the environment such as strong moving winds which would shake and weaken most structures. The building also resists water from seeping and making it damp which is a health danger.

This type is also very important because it can resist fire and therefore keeps the structure free from the fears of fire risk. It can resist fire, a factor that a wooden floor does not possess. It is also very effective since it makes the process of cleaning easy and efficient. It also has great design flexibility thus different designs can be constructed depending on the taste and preference of a person.
