The Tropical Modern Architecture Asheville NC

By Sarah Myers

There are many ways to decorate a room in your home or in any commercial place. The furniture, fittings, lighting, curios, plants etc. Add to the look of a room. A false ceiling, suspended ceiling or dropped ceiling is the latest addition in the world of architecture and construction. This is a secondary ceiling, and it is helpful in concealing pipes and wires that will otherwise be exposed and can look quite unsightly. The ceiling tiles that are used to cover the original ceiling come in different designs and materials. This article takes you through the concept of modern architecture Asheville NC-the suspended ceiling.

The development in the fields of engineering and technology enabled the architects to incorporate these changes to different structures, buildings and houses. Modern architecture is mainly characterized by simplicity and originality devoid of any tacky ornamentation.

One of the most popular forms of modern structural design is the tropical architecture. It is considered as one of the best representations of the contemporary form of architecture and is mainly suitable for constructing buildings in the tropical regions which constitute a major portion of the globe. The modern design may have been born in the west during the industrial revolution but it has spread its effect to all parts of the globe.

The advantage of having this kind of a ceiling is that you can make repairs and alterations if any, without much difficulty. When there is no false ceiling then you have to destroy the plaster before any repairs can be done, causing unnecessary expenses. But the one problem with this kind of a ceiling is that the headroom will be reduced.

Tropical architecture is composed of courtyards outside the building, well-spaced and airy floors, cool binding surfaces, colorful and well-decorated walls and a sunny balcony. Tropical weather is generally characterized by hot and humid conditions with temperatures generally on the higher side. So the buildings must be constructed in such a way so that the effect of the heat can be counteracted so as to have a pleasant stay.

The incorporation of tubes also provides support to the structures enabling a reduction in the number of columns leading to an increase in the floor space as well. In contemporary architecture, the major emphasis was laid on constructing structures which are simple and hygienic, elaborate every minute detail and its functionality as well with exclusion of features which are unnecessary, use of materials which can be reused and can be produced easily in the industries on a large scale.

Architects like modern structural design more because it allows them to develop buildings in their own way. It does not force you to follow some strict rules and regulations unlike the ancient ones. Though the modern form received criticism from many social, political and religious backgrounds, its simplicity and utility resulted in its popularity all around the globe.

Our monolithic landmarks after the industrial revolution too often serve our egos and mammon, whereas in earlier times the signature buildings would be places of spiritual worship or places that served society (e. G. Cathedrals or city halls). "We shape our buildings: thereafter they shape us" Sir Winston Churchill so wisely said: and this thought makes me worried about the direction humankind is headed.
