For Swimming Pool And Spa Leak Detection San Diego Is Worth Visiting

By Steven Olson

It may not be possible to notice leakage in swimming pools and spas by just looking at them. As a matter of fact, it is even possible to stay with a leak for years if constant close attention is not paid to the water. Such cases are commonest with tiny leaks. However, various ways can be used to prove presence of leakage in the structure if the structure is suspected to be leaking. When in search of Swimming pool and spa leak detection San Diego should be given priority.

Some methods of detecting leaks are easy and can be done easily, but others are very complicated. Given that the process can be involving, it is best to be 100 percent sure that the water is leaking before attempting any of the methods. One way to detect leaks is if there are persistent water-quality issues or algae. These issues indicate the water chemistry is imbalanced due to leaks.

Another good indicator is the presence of loose coping stones, tiles, and deck. If surrounding areas and the deck have cracks, it may also indicate that there is leakage. The plumbing, deck, and walls of the structure can also be damaged by having trees close by because of their roots. Dumpiness in the plumbing, spa, pumps, or pools also indicate that water may be leaking.

An increase in the rate at which water needs to be added into the structure may show that some water is leaking from the pool. One should be suspicious if more than a quarter of an inch of water is lost every day from the structure. However, one should also understand that different seasons cause different levels of water loss from pools and spas. For example, less water is lost in winter as compared to summer.

One of the most useful tests that one can conduct is the dye test. This test should be done by first cleaning and brushing the structure properly. As one cleans, they should pay particular attention to the corners, fittings, and steps. The inspection should be done on a calm day when there is no wind. Presence of wind causes rippling on the surface of the water, making detection of small cracks harder.

The surface of the water should be applied with tile soap so that cracks are made more visible. After that, inspection should be started at the tile line. One should identify hollows and lose tiles by tapping them lightly using a tool. Even if the actual cracks cannot be seen, one should be in a position to at least identify regions of suspected leaks.

When one suspects that an area is leaking, they should spray some food dye in the water near it using a squeeze bottle. The dye will swirl on the surface and get sucked in if the area has any leakage. Otherwise, the dye will not be sucked in after swirling.

One should have a professional do this job. Repairing can be particularly hard and messy. It takes special tools and expertise to do it right. If done by an inexperienced person, the individual may end up doing more harm to the spa than good.
