Familiarize the various shapes and techniques. Professionals and novice alike should, at least, spare some time studying the variety of applicable techniques. You should also know the tricks in angles, dimensions and shapes to ensure that everything works in proportion. Even if you have the flair and knack in painting, its still wise to make use of tools and materials for better results.

Utilize the various brush types. In this form of activity, different kinds of brushes could be use. Some are small, other are large and can cover a wide area. Since they have their own purposes, the more important it is to be careful on choosing the brush. Refrain from randomly picking anything without considering if its useful or not. Obviously, you have to make the right choice.

Draw rough sketches. Should you have the capacity to draw, there is a high likelihood to develop something exceptional and great. But even if you are not quite adept, boost your accuracy and effectiveness through practice. Discover the source of your inspiration to make good works. Alternatively, do some research or read a lot of history books to learn many things.

Figure out the right color combination. Keep in mind that not every hue combines well with one another. Thus, you should carefully study the various colors, styles and the manner of combining them into one new and brilliant color. As much as possible, test the color combination on a paper before you place it on your work. Doing so helps you decide what needs to be done.

Prepare palettes and the easel. Ordinarily, these are the common materials required to prepare for the painting activity. Prepare and set up everything before you deal with sketches or make color combination. Do not forget to thoroughly inspect every nook and cranny first to assure that they would not create any disturbance or inconvenience on your performance someday.

Work in a calm and a peaceful kind of place. A peaceful and calm environment is a good area to start. With fewer interruptions and clutter, the higher is the chance to perform the painting exercises as smooth and effective as possible just the way you wanted most.

Find your inspiration. It is definitely tough to start anything, especially when you are uninspired. Consider finding a person, place or even a motto that would keep you moving forward.
